Honda has taken the wraps off a new Shadow model that they call RS 750. The bike is addressed to beginners and, with its fuel-injected and liquid-cooled 745cc V-Twin engine producing 42bhp and 45ft lb of torque, goes straight against the Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883.

Compared to the classic Shadow cruiser, the RS 750 offers higher bars and pegs as well as a low seat height of 737mm / 29in, meaning a more upright riding position as a result of Honda’s strategy to offer all-round riding enjoyment.

Obviously, it is all made possibly by the use of the double-cradle steel tube frame and 41mm forks, but beginning riders will surely appreciate the fat 150-section rear tire that makes the 2010 Honda Shadow RS 750 look like a mean machine after all.

Honda hasn’t yet released the specs sheet for this model, but we do know that the new Shadow RS 750 will have an MSRP of $7799 when it will be available in March 2010. This was also established with the 2009 Iron 883 ($7899) as benchmark. The only sad part about this new Japanese cruiser going against the popular American model is that it will be available only in Metallic Grey.

Expect more information on the Shadow RS as soon as we have it.

First class travel.
The new 8V version of the 1200 cc twin-cylinder Moto Guzzi Norge has been updated to consolidate its vocation of being an indefatigable GT.

A tireless traveller, the acknowledged champion of reliability and the bike chosen by many law enforcement agencies including that of the city of Berlin, today the Norge has been updated and is entrenching its long-range Gran Turismo vocation with the new GT 8V version.

This acronym not only emphasises the latest development of the 4 valve per cylinder engine it mounts, but also introduces substantial new components and finishes such as to make the Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V a new model definitely better performing than the previous one in terms of performance, riding comfort and riding pleasure.

The throbbing heart of this delightful Gran Turismo bike is the renowned 90° V-twin engine universally known for being particularly gifted from the performance viewpoint.

In this latest version, equipped with a new and more efficient exhaust system, it expresses a maximum torque greater than 113 Nm delivered at only 5,800 rpm and easily reaches a peak of more than 100 HP in power, all at a maximum rpm nearly that of an automobile.

Its increase in performance is balanced by the development of a new suspension setting achieved by replacing both springs of the fork and shock absorber and by improving the hydraulic response. The result? It has given the Norge GT 8V back sportier dynamics by speeding up entry into turns and solidity in changing direction, even when used in full load conditions, which are frequent in a Gran Turismo model like the flagship of Mandello del Lario.

Again in terms of riding comfort, the new full fairing has been redesigned to increase the protection from the elements of the rider and passenger and effectively insulate them with regard to acoustics and temperature. The advantage of this new vehicle is also extended to the engine cooling, with its effective air circulation achieved with new intakes and extractors moulded in the surface of the fairing, and to its easy to read instrument panel, which is now positioned closer to the rider's eyes.

One of the most significant innovations in daily use is introduction of a new centre stand, with the lever arm redesigned to provide easy operation.

On the road, the Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V ensures comfortable and relaxed riding, during which the rider can appreciate the generous thrust of the engine, the smooth operation of the 6-speed gearbox and the effectiveness of the innovative C.A.R.C. (Compact Reactive Shaft Drive) final drive.
When seated on the saddle, the Norge GT 8V reveals the care devoted to its ergonomics in many significant details: the saddle, just 800mm above the ground, is padded with foam that adapts to the shape of the body and upholstered with anti-slip material; the footrests are covered with vibration-damping material; the sumptuous cockpit contains an instrument panel complete with trip computer able to give the rider not only trip data (previous and current), but also maintenance and check control intervals.

Last but not least, the bike also has a convenient 12 Volt external outlet, large under-seat storage space, heated hand grips and many other fine details, like adjustable suspension and built-in passenger grab handles.

Miguel Galluzzi and Pierre Terblanche capture the essence of Moto Guzzi and inject it into motorcycles to drool over, designed with one thing in mind: pure riding pleasure.

Miguel Galluzzi e Pierre Terblanche - two of the most brilliant motorcycle designers of all time - teamed up to present us with their styling exercises centred around the very essence of the Moto Guzzi brand - its legendary in-line twin-cylinder engine.

The V12 prototypes have been developed around the 1,200 cc 4-valve 90-degree V-twin from Mandello, so much so that they were even named after it.

This is Moto Guzzi's tribute to the one engine that turned the "Italian eagle" brand into a myth of motorcycling and to its unique character. It is a statement of Moto Guzzi's commitment to keep developing and improving its flagship engine for the years to come.

Pierre Terblanche's prototypes stand out for the minimalist design of the aluminium casting frame embracing that true masterpiece of mechanics. The frame compact dimensions make for a simple, neat layout. Tank, saddle and tail are integrated into a monocoque structure, an unconventional example of the fine art of design combining technology, style and practicality.

The overall impression is one of striking neatness, a sight unseen in the motorcycle industry: there is not a single cable left in sight, not a single off-key detail to be found. Such uncluttered appearance and compact size would simply be unthinkable without the sleek layout of the Guzzi twin-cylinder engine. Quite a paradox, if one considers the exuberant personality of this engine.

The V12 models are true to the Moto Guzzi tradition and its commitment to innovation that goes back nearly 9 decades.

Moto Guzzi is back to the quintessential Italian bike (so much so that all labels and indications are in Italian), a statement of style combined with technology. Rather than on performance for performance's sake, the focus is on showcasing the mechanics, on essential design, on the pleasure of owning a unique motorcycle and - of course - on riding fun, thanks to its eager engine and amazing chassis.

The prototypes feature innovative details and solutions, like the concept bikes they are. Noteworthy are the cutting-edge rear suspension of the V12 LeMans, the LCD "rear-view mirrors", the LED light units, the "suspended" passenger footpegs and the heat sinks.

1- MOTO GUZZI V12 LM: This is the Italian sports bike reinvented, true to the legacy of the legend of Le Mans it is named after. This bike is for those who want an exclusive motorcycle to ogle and to own for the utmost riding pleasure. The bike provides excellent performance under all riding conditions and easy rideability for all to enjoy. Like the other two versions, the V12 LM combines luxury details (height adjustment for top fairing and handlebar) with innovative, yet well-proven components.

2- Moto Guzzi V12 STRADA: This is the essential bike and the most versatile model in the V12 range. Perfect for everyday commuting, comfortable for two-up riding, with perfect naked ergonomics. The touring-style handlebar is matched by the generously sized tail fairing capable of accommodating a comfortable passenger saddle. The V12 Strada sports a range of technical solutions and aesthetic details built around the Moto Guzzi twin-cylinder engine, that would have been unthinkable with a conventional engine layout. The passenger footpegs are connected to the swingarm through a linkage system and look as if they were floating in air, enhancing that sleek, uncluttered look that is at the core of the styling concept.

3- Moto Guzzi V12 X: this is a "one-of-a-kind" motorcycle, true to the character of the Guzzi twin-cylinder. The focus is on riding fun, and is enhanced by its aggressive design. The V12 X is the motorcycle for aggressive riders that begs to be pushed to the limit. Born to show off and fun to ride, this motorcycle is in a category of its own. Its spirited personality is highlighted by the aggressive riding position, a sports-like chassis set-up, longer suspension travel and a rev happy engine.

Moto Guzzi V12 LM, V12 Strada and V12 X are three extraordinary Italian motorcycles. In the words of Miguel Galluzzi, Manager of the Piaggio Group styling centre:

"There is an impalpable, yet very real force in the history of Moto Guzzi. It lies in the ideas and in the unrelenting research work that led Moto Guzzi to build its tradition on innovation.

Mentioning all the accomplishments of Moto Guzzi and their significance in the history of the Italian motorcycling industry would seem like indulging in some kind of vain celebration. Throughout its history, Moto Guzzi has put forward a unique concept of motorcycle. Everything started with an idea, and new ideas have always been the lifeblood of the "Italian eagle".

New ideas once again mark a turning point in our history.

The prototypes showcased today are only the beginning: such unparalleled care for detail and neat design would be unthinkable without our twin-cylinder engine. Keep an eye on Moto Guzzi because this is just the first step. We are back to relying on ideas, and we have plenty of them. This is just the beginning".

The new BMW R 1200 RT has everything you would look for on a long journey: comfort, practicality and speed. It handles the twisting roads north of the border with incredible agility, while its redesigned fairing offers excellent protection for both rider and pillion passenger against wind, rain and air turbulence.

The punchy new boxer engine delivers generous amounts of torque, for instant responses right through the rev range. The new DOHC (double overhead camshaft) valve operating system from the HP2 Sport delivers a maximum torque of 120 Nm at 6000 rpm and a rated output of 110hp. And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system with built-in radio and mp3 player available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a roller wheel on the left grip.

As far as 2-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and it’s been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travellers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish: excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*. In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message: built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go.

Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. The characteristic “boxer” supremacy has been further enhanced in the current version: the engine’s crowning glory is now the radial DOHC** valve operating system from the HP2 Sport, though here designed for greater torque and without any loss of running smoothness: maximum torque 120 Nm, at 6000 rpm, rated output still at 81 kW (110 bhp). This means a tangible increase in thrust from the lower engine speed range through to above the medium range. The new valve control in the exhaust system ensures a discreet but more dynamic sound.

And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a single unit. So there’s only one thing you have to do yourself - drop by for a test ride.

*ESA II = Electronic Suspension Adjustment. Electronic spring mount and spring rate adjustment
** DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder

Climb aboard - there's a whole world out there waiting to be discovered. With a power output of 110 bhp, and 115 Nm of torque, the BMW R1200RT is a motorcycle built for beautiful touring moments. The chassis incorporates the BMW Motorrad Telelever and Paralever for ease of handling, while the EVO brake with the partially integral version of BMW

Motorrad Integral ABS ensures maximum safety. The combination of aerodynamically optimized fairing and an electrically adjustable windshield offers excellent protection against the elements, and the class-leading ergonomics mean rider and pillion passenger can enjoy the freedom of the open road in complete comfort.

The BMW R 1200 RT has always been acknowledged as the epitome of comfortable and dynamic motorcycle touring in classic style. And now, the latest version of this unique active tourer, with its significant innovations, offers even more superior enduro qualities and dynamic benefits thanks to its new boxer engine.

In its configuration and basic structure, the new flat-twin engine is the same as the Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) engine featured in the BMW HP2 Sport. It has, however, been
further upgraded and optimized for the BMW R 1200 RT to meet the specific requirements of an outstanding tourer.

With the 1,170-cc boxer engine on the former model already offering superior drive power under all conditions and in all situations, the new R 1200 RT has even more to offer.

First, the new engine offers an increase in maximum torque from 85 - 88 lb-ft at an unchanged 6,000 rpm, for even greater acceleration and passing power. Second, the range of useful engine speed has been increased by 500 rpm to a maximum 8,500 rpm. The third improvement is a significant increase in torque where it really counts at low and medium engine speeds, with a smooth and homogeneous torque curve. Maximum engine horsepower is the same as the prior model at 110 hp but occurs now at 7,750 rpm (previously 7,500 rpm).
